MechAxis Refund Policy
How free trials, cancellations, plan changes and refunds work for MechAxis subscriptions. Written for Australian workshops and the Australian Consumer Law.
Last updated 1 November 2026
Who this policy is for
It covers the subscription a workshop pays MechAxis for the software. It sits alongside our terms and conditions, which it explains rather than changes.
If you are a vehicle owner who paid a workshop, this is not the policy you want. MechAxis does not take payments between a workshop and its customers, so a refund for work on your vehicle is a matter for the workshop that did it.
Free trial
New workshops get a 30-day free trial with every Platinum feature, and no card is needed to start it. Nothing is charged during the trial, so there is nothing to refund.
If the trial ends without a subscription, your records stay in place, but you need an active subscription to keep using the workshop tools. Subscribing during the trial ends the trial at that point, and the first payment is taken that day.
How billing works
Plans are billed monthly or yearly, in Australian dollars, including GST, through our payment processor, Stripe. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until it is cancelled. The price and billing period are shown at checkout and under Subscription in MechAxis.
Cancelling
The workshop owner can cancel at any time from Subscription in MechAxis, or by emailing hello@mechaxis.com.au. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period: the workshop keeps its plan and its data until then, no further renewal is charged, and the cancellation can be reversed at any time before access ends.
Your records are not deleted when access ends. How long we keep them, and how to ask for an export or deletion, is in our privacy policy.
Changing plans
An upgrade takes effect straight away, and the difference for the rest of the billing period is charged at once. A downgrade takes effect at the end of the current billing period; nothing is charged or refunded when you make it.
When we refund
Our terms say subscription fees are not refundable except where the law requires a refund or we have expressly agreed to one. In practice:
- Cancelling does not refund the rest of the billing period already paid for. You keep full access until it ends instead.
- A charge you did not owe, such as a duplicate charge or a renewal after your cancellation took effect, is not a fee for the service. Tell us and we will refund it.
- Where the Australian Consumer Law entitles you to a refund, you get one, whatever this policy or our terms say. That is explained below.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that they are supplied with due care and skill and are fit for the purpose we told you about. These guarantees protect businesses as well as individuals when the services cost $100,000 or less, which covers a MechAxis subscription.
If there is a major failure, you can cancel and receive a refund for the unused part of what you paid, or compensation for the drop in the service’s value. If the failure is not major, we will fix it within a reasonable time; if we do not, you can cancel and receive a refund for the unused part. You may also be entitled to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss caused by the failure.
Nothing in this policy or our terms limits those rights.
How to ask for a refund
Email hello@mechaxis.com.au with your workshop’s name, the date and amount of the charge, and what went wrong. We will reply, and if a refund is due we will tell you how much and when to expect it.
Refunds go back to the payment method that was charged, through Stripe. Your bank then usually takes 5 to 10 business days to show it on your statement.
Complaints
If you are not happy with how we handled a refund request, email hello@mechaxis.com.au and we will look at it again. You can also contact the consumer protection agency in your state or territory, or the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission at accc.gov.au.
