The case for choosing MechAxis
MechAxis is a strong choice when you want to organise work around the responsibilities of the advisor, technician and owner. Gold brings inspection findings, customer approval and parts purchasing into the repair workflow. Platinum extends that record into fleet access, warranty cases and revenue recovery. The benefit to evaluate is how clearly each person can see what they should do next, especially when the customer approves only part of a repair or a delivery is incomplete.
Understand what the lower headline price buys
Mech365 publishes Basic and Advanced prices expressed monthly but charged yearly. Its plan tables separate admin accounts from staff-attendance allowances, and describe image and inspection-report limits on Basic. That is a different way to package access from MechAxis's staff-seat allowance. Ask which people can inspect, approve, purchase, invoice and review costs on the quoted plan. MechAxis is not presented here as the cheaper subscription; its case rests on the operational fit you can demonstrate.
A kiosk is the start of the service, not the end
Mech365 describes customer self-service and a workshop portal. MechAxis also supports QR intake and customer/vehicle records. To compare the full process, carry the customer's concern into a job, assign a technician and create an inspection. Have the advisor prepare the recommendation and the customer make a line-level decision. Then check the technician's authorised tasks. Choose MechAxis when that sequence gives the team a clearer repair record than the check-in screen alone can provide.
Check permissions with real staff roles
In a MechAxis trial, use separate accounts for the technician and authorised manager. The technician should record work and findings without needing internal finance access. The manager can inspect recorded costs and missing-cost notices. Have each person repeat the exercise on the device they would use in the workshop. This avoids mistaking an administrator's successful demonstration for evidence that every staff role can perform its own job.
Give fleet records a practical test
Mech365 lists a Fleet Manager capability. MechAxis Platinum supplies fleet accounts, members, drivers, vehicles, cost centres and controlled document visibility. Test the actual relationship: a driver brings the vehicle, a manager approves the work and an accounts contact needs the invoice. Check the allowed view for each person. The reason to choose MechAxis is a demonstrated match for those responsibilities, not a claim that another product lacks fleet features because its public description is brief.
Reconcile the written offer before moving
List the annual commitment, included messages, media allowance, staff access and external connections for both plans. Confirm which accounting provider and records are supported rather than relying on an integration logo. MechAxis's trial includes Platinum for 30 days; Gold is the ongoing tier for inspections and stock, while fleet and warranty tools need Platinum. Import a small supported sample and retain the old history until the team has checked the records it needs.
