Check when a certificate is needed
Victoria generally requires a Certificate of Roadworthiness when a vehicle is sold or re-registered, with other requirements and exemptions set out by the state. A licensed vehicle tester at an approved facility issues the certificate. Check the current requirements for the vehicle and transaction.

Explain what the certificate covers
A roadworthy certificate records that a vehicle met the applicable requirements when inspected. It is not a guarantee of mechanical reliability or cosmetic condition. A customer seeking a broader condition assessment should arrange a separate inspection.
Separate required repairs from recommendations
Identify the repairs needed for the certificate separately from other work you recommend. Attach findings and photos to the quote so the customer can see what each item is for.
